Cupcake Needle Holder



      Everyone needs a place to store their sewing needles; and this little cupcake is just perfect for the job!


Supplies:
     5.00 mm crochet hook
     lavender worsted weight yarn
     buff worsted weight yarn
     * colors based on Red Heart Super Saver yarn
     small sew-on snap
     needle & thread
     scissors

Abbreviations Used:
     ch --- chain
     sc --- single crochet
     st/sts --- stitch/stitches
     trc --- triple crochet
     slp st --- slip stitch
     ftlp(s) --- front loops
     bklp(s) --- back loops
     sc2tog --- single crochet 2 stitches together

Notes:
     --- Any combination of colors can be used for the cupcake to create any design you want.
     Attach a loop to the top of the needle holder to make it easier to store, if desired.


~Pattern~

Cupcake Front:
     With the buff yarn, ch 8.
     R0w 1: ch 1, turn; 1sc in each ch across - 8sts
     R0ws 2-5: ch 1, turn; 1sc in each st across - 8sts
     Row 6: ch 1, turn; 2sc in first st, 1sc in next 6sts, 2sc in last st - 10sts
     Row 7: ch 1, turn; 2sc in first st, 1sc in next 8sts, 2sc in last st - 12sts
     Change to lavender yarn.
     Row 8: ch 1, turn; 1sc in each st across - 12sts
     Row 9: working in ftlps only [each step goes in 1 ftlp]: 3trc, slp st, 3trc, slp st, 3trc, slp st, slp st, 3trc, slp st, 3trc, slp st, 3trc - 6 shells made
     Row 10: ch 1, turn; working in the bklps of Row 9, 1sc in each bklp across - 12sts
     Row 11: ch 1, turn; working through both loops, 1sc in each st across - 12sts
     Row 12: ch 1, turn; 1sc in each st across - 12sts
     Row 13: ch 1, turn; sc2tog, 1sc in next 8sts, sc2tog - 10sts
     Row 14: ch 1, turn; sc2tog, 1sc in next 6sts, sc2tog - 8sts
     Row 15: ch 1, turn; sc2tog, 1sc in next 4sts, sc2tog - 6sts
     Fasten off.


Cupcake Back:
     With the buff yarn, ch 8.
     R0w 1: ch 1, turn; 1sc in each ch across - 8sts
     R0ws 2-5: ch 1, turn; 1sc in each st across - 8sts
     Row 6: ch 1, turn; 2sc in first st, 1sc in next 6sts, 2sc in last st - 10sts
     Row 7: ch 1, turn; 2sc in first st, 1sc in next 8sts, 2sc in last st - 12sts
     Change to lavender yarn.
     Rows 8-11: ch 1, turn; 1sc in each st across
     Row 12: ch 1, turn; sc2tog, 1sc in next 8sts, sc2tog - 10sts
     Row 13: ch 1, turn; sc2tog, 1sc in next 6sts, sc2tog - 8sts
     Row 14: ch 1, turn; sc2tog, 1sc in next 4sts, sc2tog - 6sts 
     DO NOT fasten off.

Assembly & Finishing:
     With wrong sides facing, sc through the top row of the Front and Back pieces to affix them together - 6sts
     Fasten off.
     Sew the snap onto the insides bottom of the Cupcake (1/2 on the Front, 1/2 on the Back).
     Tie off and trim all loose threads.
